Our client is seeking a Litigation & Practice Support Manager – Contract Lawyer for their Washington, D.C. office. This role will coordinate the onboarding of contract attorneys and manage other aspects of e-discovery vendor services related to the firm’s limited outsourcing of legal technology as it relates to forensic collections and contract attorney staffing. In this role, the candidate will work directly with clients and case team members to define business requirements, evaluate technology solutions, develop project plans, and manage projects with limited supervision to meet case or project objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience with inside sales with an e-discovery vendor or staffing firm along with an understanding of e-discovery, litigation support, and Relativity. Juris Doctor and contract attorney experience is preferred. Resumes to [email protected].

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works directly with clients and case team members to define business requirements, evaluate technology solutions, develop project plans, and manage projects with limited supervision to meet case or project objectives
  • Communicates directly with service providers to define the scope of case team needs related to collections and contract attorney staffing
  • Maintains expert-level knowledge of Firm-provided e-discovery/litigation and practice support solutions and be a zealous advocate for the use of said services
  • Evaluates the performance of service providers using objective metrics and client or case team feedback
  • Escalates issues regarding service performance to the Litigation and Practice Support Manager
  • Works with Firm accounting resources and external vendors to resolve invoicing issues related to external e-discovery provider services
  • Works with Firm Conflicts resources and external vendors to assist with the contract attorney conflicts clearing process
  • Creates and manages project budgets and vendor pricing comparisons for case teams and/or clients
  • Manages and coordinates the delivery of service using both internal and external resources, including negotiating with outside vendors as appropriate
  • Coordinates user access to internal Litigation and Practice Support technical resources and troubleshoots issues with the same
  • Assists in the development of department best practices and documentation of business processes
  • Exhibits overall business awareness as it relates to the goals and objectives of the department
  • Keeps abreast of current technologies, strategies, and solutions relating to e-discovery and legal technology
  • Performs other tasks as directed by partners, senior counsel, associates, of counsel, or Senior Firm Management
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Some experience planning and managing legal technology projects or working in a staffing environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience and understanding of legal technology solutions and the contract attorney staffing process
  • If you are to use Relativity in your role, you will need to successfully pass an internally administered test within the first three months of employment
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel
  • Strong documentation skills
