TRU Trends: January 2022

Written by TRU Staffing Partners | January 31, 2022 at 2:00 PM

The first month of 2022 got off to a quiet start as hiring managers and business leaders took the first two weeks of January to slowly get back into gear after the holidays and year-close activities. But the second half of January is out like a shot – and e-discovery managers are hiring just as aggressively, if not more aggressively, as they were in Q4 of 2021.

Some of the highlights from this month include:

Demand for ediscovery project managers and analysts is astronomical

At TRU, our current open job portfolio supersedes the volume seen in January 2021 by three times — and demand for talent shows no signs of slowing in the coming months.

Ediscovery project managers and analysts looking to make a move this quarter – or even this month – will find no dearth of opportunity for growth, flexibility, and salary increases. hiring managers are bringing more to the bargaining table in terms of work from home flexibility, geographic flexibility, pay increases, and willingness to bend on benefits.

Don't sleep on LegalWeek job opportunities

Typically, LegalWeek is the ediscovery industry’s biggest job fair for ediscovery sales, business development, and solution architect professionals. While the event has been pushed back to March this year due to the Omicron surge, that doesn’t mean enterprising sales representatives looking for their next gig should sleep on the opportunity to make a move right now. Hiring managers are not going to wait until a March Legalweek to find and secure talented sales hires who can tangibly move the needle in their business. Additionally, TRU has more individual contributor roles with equity earn-in potential available than ever before. 2021 and 2022 are proving to be renaissance years for boutique esi providers rising to compete with big box vendors and consulting firms and they are not afraid to dangle an equity carrot to attract talent.

Heed the need for speed

We’re already seeing the speed of hire continue to match the pace that we saw in the last three months of 2021 – with time-to-hire from the day a resume is submitted to the day an offer is accepted reaching a lightning-fast 8 business days. For e-discovery contractors, the time is even shorter – averaging at just 72 hours. Kickstarted by the forced adoption of virtual job interviews, this speed of hire is the new normal for the foreseeable future – hiring in e-discovery is unlikely to slow down anytime soon.
