Legaltech News: Data Privacy Sector Sees Booming Job Growth, Faster Hiring Cycles

The 2022 Data Privacy Jobs Report by TRU Staffing Partners found that a combination of pandemic-born data privacy awareness and Big Tech's attempts to fill regulatory gaps is pushing more job growth in the sector, and higher base compensation for middle-market professionals.

Jared Coseglia, founder and CEO of TRU, was recently interviewed for Legaltech News, and attributed the most startling statistic—a 30% year-over increase in privacy roles from 2020 to 2021—to the relative newness of the sector.

Additionally, hiring managers were speedier in the earlier years of the pandemic, likely due to virtual hiring practices. Data privacy hiring periods saw significant drops for every level of the talent pool. Midmarket non-contract hiring periods dropped from around three to six weeks in 2019 to roughly eight to 12 days in 2021. Executive hiring periods saw drops from around three to five months to about three to six weeks. What’s more, 100% of first-round interviews were done virtually, according to the report.
